Sensitive Skin Tanning Lotion
Helpful Tips in Applying Sunless Tanning Lotions by chris
To start with, if you are used to shaving your legs for hours just before applying STL’s, you better stop since the shaving might injure the skin or injure it and then when you apply the lotion, the effect is compounded. If especially your skin is ultra sensitive side, do not shave and then apply the lotion. Again, if you want to take a shower or to bathe just before the application, it is advisable that you use a soft cotton-material washcloth to scrub the skin. Using a nylon or a loofah scrubber will cause an adverse streaky effect, that may in turn prompt the skin to react to the lotion.
When eventually you get onto applying the lotion, you should wear a dark-colored bathing suit or any other loose fitting outfit that has a dark color. In fact, it is advisable that you wear the same outfit every time you are applying the lotion, for best results. Try some bikini bottoms for instance, black in color. In the application, especially when you are doing the application yourself to the back, use a sponge-like paintbrush. These are readily available from many hardware stores. The paint brush should ideally be 2-3 inches in the brush side. It should also be washed thoroughly and let to air dry. Prefer wooden handles over the plastic ones, to avoid scratching the skin.
Contemporary practice has seen an increased use of a small sponge roller instead of the brush, for applying the lotions. Most of the available quality rollers help thin the lotion evenly on the skin spread. Some guys like using a little water with the lotion and then using the 2-3 inch sponge rollers for application. Lotions are the ones mostly used with sprinkles of water, unlike sprays. However, whether you use water or not, the important point in application of lotions using rollers is that you should not use the fluffy types of rollers.
One great advantage of using Sunless Tanning Lotions is that they are very easy to apply. When compared to sprays, which are actually not recommended for new users of Sunless Tanning Products, lotions are much easier and effective in even application. Lotions are spread all over the skin and in equal proportions, thereby ensuring the tan is even throughout the body.
It is also recommended that you wash the hands after every five minutes during the application of lotions. Just use a nailbrush with soap, to scrub fingers, palms, and fingernails. Even better, wear medical gloves, the type that will now allow the lotion to seep into your under-nails.
Finally, when applying the lotion, remember to rub the elbows and the knees too and don’t just jump over them. Even the ankles, feet tops, wrists and the backs of your hands should be rubbed with the lotion, to ensure that the tanning effect blends well all over the body.
